Easy Lease
Service design for a circular economy
Overview
Easy Lease was a collaboration with Bugaboo, the Dutch company known for its high-quality baby products. Our team — five students from TU Delft's Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering — set out to explore the future of parenting and the baby product market.
Context
As part of its mission to reach net-zero emissions, Bugaboo is exploring circular business models — driven not only by internal sustainability goals but also by anticipated regulations that may soon require companies to retain ownership of the materials they use.
Challenge
This shift raises big questions: What does it mean for a company like Bugaboo to move from a linear to a circular model? How will it affect product development and consumers? And what does it look like to stop selling products and instead build long-term relationships with parents?
Process
We treated the project first and foremost as a learning process. Rather than strictly following the standard Double Diamond framework, we adapted it — adding extra converging sessions throughout: short moments to pause, reflect, and recalibrate. Working on campus let us experiment freely and explore as many research methods as we could, learning fast from low-stakes mistakes.
