Daily Dose of German
An AI-supported, vibe-coded language learning tool
Overview
Daily Dose of German is a self-initiated, AI-supported language learning tool, designed and vibe-coded with Claude.AI. Instead of following fixed lessons, it turns any German text a learner encounters into a personalised study session.
Context
The concept grew out of a simple idea: learning sticks best when it starts from content you actually care about. So the tool builds every exercise from the learner's own material rather than a generic curriculum.
Process
The core session flow has four steps. Upload — paste a piece of German text with an optional source note. Breakdown — sentence-by-sentence teaching with full translation, vocabulary (article, plural, meaning, infinitive, tense forms, example), prepositions with their governing case, and grammar points. Exercises — multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching pairs and sentence reorder generated from that exact content, framed as practice rather than tests, with no score system. Writing — learners write their own short German text and receive inline AI feedback with corrections, explanations and an optional native-speaker rewrite.
Outcome
A calm, paper-toned design system — built on Space Grotesk and IBM Plex Sans with clear colour tokens for vocabulary, prepositions and grammar — keeps the dense linguistic information readable and approachable.
